as you noticed by the last few posts, i did indeed make it to sfo at the ungodly early (and dark) hour of 5am and onto the plane for a 7:10am takeoff. we landed at 3:45 in newark which makes sense as i’m staying with my best friend in hoboken. she and her boyfriend picked me up which was a real treat and took me back to her place. i spent a great deal of time being fascinated by the snow in the afternoon (it’s on the ground in a city… not on a mountain!) we then had a local dinner, hit up a grocery store, and did some much-overdue chatting and now it’s time to hit the hay to get ready for my week. i plan to post an update every day like i did last year so you can live vicariously through my week of portfolio shows in nyc.

4:45am is gonna come really quick but i’m all packed and ready to go for my 7:10am flight to nyc.
two things happened today: i booked my 17th meeting for next week (sweet!) and my flight to nyc was canceled. seriously great timing, i know.
cancelled. that’s right, not postponed, actually cancelled. ironically, my flight was cancelled because of the crazy east coast storm but was set to go out on saturday mid-morning after the storm was supposed to have already passed… i’m guessing that it was all due to a gigantic continental air backup. i’m really lucky that i didn’t find this out while waiting at the airport tomorrow morning (thank goodness!) and was able to book one of the last seats out on a sunday crack-of-dawn flight to arrive mid afternoon in nyc. the only unpleasant part will be sitting in a middle seat with very little sleep at a very early hour for a long flight. come 3:45pm sunday i’ll be very glad to be on the ground prepared for my week-o-meetings!
nyc-h&h-bagels here i come!
last night i spent 5hrs fighting with my printer and cs4 to convince them to play nicely and in the end i won. my book newly updated with all my fresh work and it’s ready for nyc!
next week in nyc is looking good, so far i have 12 meetings and counting!
many many hours and days of photoshopping later and i’m finally out of the weeds! i’ve checked off all of my retouching from my pre-nyc to do list (!) and also have delivered all my shoots to their respective people. now all that’s left on my technical list is to add both shoots to my website and print a few hero shots for my book.
today my book goes in to chronicle books for a portfolio review and then i’ll get it back tomorrow which is when i’ll get to update it with these new fresh shots. i’ll also spend the next few days finishing my nyc calls and starting to get my gear together before leaving.
lightning.
